- Any of the above can have the RX coverage extended quite easily.

- Some care is needed as the parts are on the small side.
- Reset the microprocessor by turning the rig on while depressing the SET and
- MW buttons.
- Turn off the rig and disconnect from power.
- Remove top and bottom covers taking care to disconnect the speaker connector.
- Remove the tuning knob by pulling gently but firmly.
- Remove the four screws retaining the front panel. These are located on the
- top and bottom of the rear of the panel.
- Carefully unscrew the mic. socket retaining ring and remove it.
- Turn the rig so the front panel is facing upwards.
- Remove the front panel and place it on a flat surface.
- Remove the three screws retaining the front sub panel assembly.
- Carefully pull the assembly away from the chassis.
- Locate diodes D4 to 7 at the rear of the right hand end of the front panel
- assembly.
- Using a small pair of side cutters snip the top lead of diodes D4 to D7.
- Bend the leads back ensuring that they cannot contact anything.
- Reassemble the rig and connect to power.
- Reset the rig using the power on sequences described below.

- All features can be enabled or just those required.

- Extend VHF receive range to 136-174MHz.
- Cut diode D6 on logic board.
- Press and hold V/MHz, MONI and Mic (DN) buttons while turning power on.

- Extend coverage to include airband from 118-136MHz A.M.
- Cut diode D4 on logic board.
- Press and hold V/MHz, MONI and mic. (DN) buttons while turning power on.

- Extend UHF receive range to 400-479MHz.
- Cut diode D5 on logic board.
- Press and hold M/Call, MONI and mic. (DN) buttons while turning power on.

- Enable cross band repeater.
- Cut diode D7 on logic board.
- Set the two frequencies required including any required repeater shift.
- Push BAND until DUAL appears on the display.
- Release button then press and hold while pressing SET until the memory
- channel number changes to a flashing letter L.
- To cancel press and hold SET until channel number appears.
